Tobias Harris training with Tommy Tempesta

Filming with NBA Coach Tommy Tempesta in San Diego: A Behind-the-Scenes Look

Recently, we had the incredible opportunity to collaborate with NBA trainer Tommy Tempesta, creating three months’ worth of educational and engaging content in sunny San Diego. Our goal was to capture Tommy’s unique training methods and bring them to life through short-form social media videos and YouTube content. It was an inspiring experience filled with creativity, learning, and breathtaking locations.

The Atmosphere of San Diego

San Diego provided the perfect backdrop for our shoot. With its warm weather and stunning views, we were able to film in a variety of locations, each adding a different vibe to the content. From the beautiful beaches and rugged hills to the University of San Diego’s track and indoor courts, each location played its part in telling the story of Tommy’s training philosophy.

Capturing Tommy’s Genius

Tommy Tempesta is a true master of his craft, and it was our job to translate his complex knowledge into short, digestible videos that would still carry the full impact of his techniques. The challenge was to simplify his ideas without losing the depth of what makes his methods so effective.

What made the collaboration even more exciting was Tommy’s trust in us. While he had his own ideas about how the content should look, he allowed us to take the lead in making those concepts visually appealing. The result was a series of high-quality videos that highlight his expertise in a way that both educates and entertains.

The Magic Behind Tommy’s Methods

What struck me the most during the shoot was Tommy’s deep understanding of the human body and movement. He’s not just focused on improving a player’s skill set; he designs techniques that challenge them while making the process fun. His methods are so engaging that players naturally want to push themselves further, which makes his methods even more effective.

The Final Product and Its Impact

The content we created for Tommy includes both short-form social media videos and longer YouTube clips. These videos are not just educational—they’re a showcase of his unique basketball training methods. By putting his knowledge and techniques on display, we’re confident this content will expand his following and introduce his innovative approach to a whole new audience.

Personal Takeaways

Personally, I came away from this project with more than just another completed job. Hearing Tommy speak about body movement and muscle engagement gave me insights I can apply to my own life—not just in filming, but also in playing pickleball, a sport I love. I learned that hill work and improving balance, both key elements of Tommy’s methods, can improve my performance on the court as well as my endurance behind the camera.

This project was a great reminder of how interconnected skills are. Whether you’re training for sports or perfecting a shot on film, the principles of movement, balance, and consistency apply across the board.

My Favorite Project: The Children’s Trust – Champions for Children

May is my Birthday month and Mental Health Month, a time to reflect on the importance of mental health and its profound impact on our lives. This year, I had the privilege of working on a project that deeply resonated with me and broadened my understanding of mental health, particularly in children. This project was “The Children’s Trust Champions for Children,” an eye-opening experience that I am eager to share.

About the Project

The Children’s Trust, a non-profit organization, honors seven organizations or individuals in Miami who have excelled in their service to children and families. We, along with Drone Training School US, were hired to create videos for each of the seven honorees. Our task was to interview these honorees and their representatives, showcasing their incredible contributions.

Objective and Purpose

The main objective of this video project was to highlight how these honorees go above and beyond to help children. Although we were initially unaware of the project’s heavy focus on mental health, it became apparent through our interviews that many honorees work extensively in the mental health field. Their dedication to helping children with mental health issues from a young age deeply resonated with me.

Personal Connection to Mental Health

I am passionate about mental health because my family has been profoundly affected by it. I have lost many family members and friends to suicide. Additionally, some family members had mental health issues that went unrecognized and untreated due to a lack of awareness and education. This personal history fuels my advocacy for mental health awareness.

Key Messages

The key messages conveyed in the video are powerful and clear: with proper help and education, children and families can understand mental health issues and seek the necessary assistance to lead normal, fulfilling lives. This theme aligns perfectly with the spirit of Mental Health Month, emphasizing awareness and support.

Impactful Stories from the Interviews

Working on this project gave me a deeper courage to help others as I interviewed individuals who contribute so much more. Here are a few stories that particularly moved me:

Dr. William Pelham: Dr. Pelham, who recently passed away, was an advocate for helping children with mental health issues. He studied the effects of medication and promoted alternative treatments to assist these children. He established the FIU Center for Children and Families, recruiting top psychologists and researchers focused on interventions that can have lifelong impacts. Interviewing Dr. Hart from FIU and others highlighted Dr. Pelham’s legacy and his profound impact on mental health.

UM’s Jumpstart Program: We interviewed Dr. Ruby Natale, Wendy Salomon, and Dr. Maite Schenker. They revealed that children are being expelled as early as preschool, which was shocking to me. Their program works with children with challenging behaviors, helping them understand their needs and providing families with techniques and solutions. This approach aims to prevent early expulsions and support children’s developmental and mental health needs.

Zoe Taylor: An inspiring individual honoree, Zoe Taylor, is about to graduate high school and has already made a significant impact through her initiative, Zoe’s Dolls. She donates dolls to little girls worldwide who cannot afford them. What touched me deeply about Zoe’s story was the unwavering support she receives from her mother and godmother. Coming from a background where support was not always available, this moved me to tears while filming

Personal Impact and Future Aspirations

This project has been my favorite to date, and it has deeply affected both me and my team. Learning about the early onset of mental health issues in children and the barriers families face in seeking help has reinforced the critical need for mental health advocacy. Each honoree’s story has inspired me in different ways, and my goal is to find a way to make an impact in the mental health field, whether through our video production, volunteering, or counseling.

As we continue to celebrate Mental Health Month, I encourage everyone to recognize the importance of mental health, especially in children. The stories we captured in “The Children’s Trust Champions for Children” serve as a reminder that with the right support, we can make a significant difference in the lives of those struggling with mental health issues.

I invite you to watch the videos and share them with your network. Let’s raise awareness and support for mental health initiatives. Together, we can champion the cause and ensure a brighter, healthier future for all children.

Thank you for taking the time to read about this meaningful project. Let’s continue to support and advocate for mental health awareness, not just in May, but throughout the year.

Our Journey at The Children’s Trust Family Expo 2023

Hey there! We want to share our story about the awesome three Saturdays we spent at The Children’s Trust Family Expo 2023 in Miami. As the only videographers for the event it was a big deal for us. The expo was all about helping families get ready for the school year with free resources and cool activities. Uber even pitched in, offering free rides for families without transportation. It was a massive event held at different schools each Saturday, making it easy for families from all over Miami to join. Our job? Capture the fun, the families, and the fantastic community spirit.

Week One: The Unveiling

Stepping into the first Saturday the event turned out to be even bigger than we imagined. Armed with our detailed shot list – a visual roadmap of moments we needed to capture, from the lively crowd to families exploring the vendors. Navigating through the day, a big chunk of our shot list involved interviewing key players: board members, enthusiastic attendees, you name it. These talking head pieces became the heartbeat of our final video, adding a personal touch to the broader narrative. From candid family moments to up-close shots of kids grabbing school supplies. It was vital for us to capture every single shot, which really brought the whole video together in the end.

Weeks Two and Three: Getting in the Groove

As the second and third Saturdays rolled around, we hit our stride. Armed with our checklist, we smoothly navigated through different schools across Miami. The cool part? Each Saturday, the Family Expo took center stage in a South, North, and West campus, making sure families from all corners of Miami had their chance to join the fun. It wasn’t just about school prep; it was a full-on celebration of community vibes, resilience, and giving back.

Behind the Lens: Challenges and Triumphs

Executing a project of this scale came with its set of challenges. The need to adapt to changing environments, manage unexpected crowds, and capture authentic moments required nimbleness and a quick eye. The first Saturday served as a guide, but with each passing week, we streamlined our gameplay, ensuring that every interview and B-roll moment reflected the energy and purpose of the Family Expo.

Learning and Giving Back

Beyond the technical aspects, our journey with The Children’s Trust Family Expo was a profound learning experience. The joy of seeing families come together, the impact of free resources on children’s education, and the knowledge that our work contributed to a greater cause made the long hours and meticulous planning worthwhile.

In the end, The Children’s Trust Family Expo 2023 was not just a series of events we documented; it was a chapter in our professional journey that left an imprint on us. The fusion of technology, storytelling, and community engagement showcased the power of visual media in creating positive change. We left each Saturday with a sense of accomplishment, knowing that our work played a role in amplifying the voices and stories of the Miami community.

Josh Williams of the American fan 365 interviewing fan for game 3 of the NBA finals

Capturing Miami’s Electric Energy: A Memorable Shoot with Josh Williams from American Fan 365

As a Miami content creator, every project brings its own unique set of challenges and rewards. Recently, I had the incredible opportunity to work with Josh Williams from the American Fan 365 podcast show. Our mission was to capture the vibrant atmosphere outside the Miami Heat’s Kaseya Arena before Game 3 of the NBA Finals. Armed with my trusty camera, monopod with legs, and a few microphones, I dove headfirst into the world of vertical video production for social media. Little did I know that this shoot would become an unforgettable adventure filled with unexpected encounters and Miami’s infectious energy.

Embracing Vertical Format for Social Media:

In today’s fast-paced digital landscape, social media has become a vital platform for brands to engage with their audience. Recognizing this, Josh sought to leverage the power of vertical video for his podcast show. Shooting in vertical format allows for seamless integration with mobile devices and ensures optimal viewing experience on platforms like Instagram, and TikTok. Armed with the right equipment, I was ready to capture the excitement unfolding outside the arena.

Challenges Amidst the Miami Heat:

Miami is known for its lively crowds and passionate basketball fans, and our shoot was no exception. However, managing the enthusiastic crowd posed a unique trial. As I set up my equipment and prepared for the interviews, fans unknowingly walked through our scene, momentarily interrupting our shots. Communicating with each passerby became a humorous dance of hand signals and friendly gestures, trying to convey the importance of preserving the integrity of the shoot. Despite the occasional disruptions, our hustle and resilience came through strong. Maybe next time I should invest in some traffic cones to keep those interruptions in check, you feel me?

Conquering the Unpredictable Weather:

Miami’s weather is wild, man. On the day of our shoot, dark clouds were creeping in. Just when we thought things might go south, a light drizzle started coming down. No worries, though. We got resourceful real quick! I whipped out my trusty baseball cap and used it as a makeshift shield for the camera. Out of nowhere, a NBA exec who Josh knew came to the rescue. As she watched us film, she stood by with her umbrella to help keep the camera dry. It was an unexpected moment, but it showed me how connections can save the day in the midst of hustle and bustle.

A Joyful Fusion of People, Passion, and Miami Energy:

Despite the challenges, the shoot was so much fun! Engaging with passionate NBA fans, watching Josh rock those interviews, and soaking up the Miami energy lit a fire under my creativity. The streets around the Kaseya arena were buzzing with excitement as hordes of people, hyped up and repping their team colors, flooded into the stadium. The atmosphere was straight-up electric, and that energy seeped into our footage, giving it a spark that reminded me of why I love Miami.

Collaborating with Josh outside the Miami Heat Kaseya arena was a cool experience. Being a huge sports fan myself, I loved being in the midst of the crowd and soaking up the pre-game energy during Game 3 was an absolute thrill. It’s moments like these that remind me why I’m so passionate about what I do.

Capturing the Essence of Bitcoin 2023 Conference: A Content Creator’s Journey

In the fast-paced digital era, social media dominates the entrepreneurial landscape, making high-quality content a necessity. As videographers and photographers, my wife Nathalie and I have the privilege of providing content creation solutions to our clients. Recently, we had the incredible opportunity to work with Charlene, the esteemed host of the Bitcoin in Africa show. Our task was to film her during the Bitcoin 2023 conference held in Miami, FL, for three action-packed days. Let’s dive into our behind-the-scenes experiences, challenges, and moments of triumph in capturing this remarkable event.

Day One: Women of Bitcoin Brunch and Panel Talk

On Day One, the conference began with the Women in Bitcoin Brunch. Influential women in the industry gathered to network and discuss Bitcoin. Charlene not only participated but also took the stage as a panelist, sharing valuable insights. We were ready with our cameras to capture the engaging panel discussions through videos and photos. One challenge we faced was ensuring optimal audio quality, given the various microphones used on stage. Nonetheless, we overcame this hurdle and captured the content with clarity, enhancing the viewing experience.

Day Two: Exploring the Bitcoin Scene

Day Two was dedicated to following Charlene as she conducted interviews with attendees, delving into their experiences and perspectives on Bitcoin. This day involved a lot of walking, posing a challenge in carrying the necessary equipment while staying mobile. With a well-thought-out selection of gear, including my tripod, cameras, and DJI mics, as well as Nathalie’s camera and single flash, we efficiently captured the conference’s essence without hindering our movements.

Day Three: The Grand Finale and Bitcoin Market Event

On the final day, Charlene moderated a panel of international Bitcoin experts. I set up a stationary camera at the front to capture the discussion, while Nathalie skillfully moved around, taking captivating photos and B-roll footage. After the panel, we headed to Lincoln Rd, where CashApp hosted a lively Bitcoin Market event resembling a vibrant farmers market. The atmosphere was electric, with food vendors, live performances, and merchandise all purchasable with Bitcoin. Our cameras documented Charlene’s purchases of flowers, lemonade, and chocolate, embracing the digital currency revolution. We secured a front-row spot to film Waka Flocka Flame’s energetic performance, concluding the conference on an exhilarating note. I even had the privilege of snapping a photo with Waka Flocka Flame himself, making it a truly unforgettable experience.

Reflection: Passion, People, and the Power of Content

Experiencing the Bitcoin 2023 conference was a testament to our passion for our work. Connecting with inspiring individuals, continuously learning, and providing them with the best content fills us with a sense of purpose. Overcoming challenges like audio concerns and adapting to different shooting environments reinforced our dedication to delivering high-quality results. As content creation entrepreneurs, we recognize the vital role social media plays in establishing a strong online presence. By capturing meaningful moments and crafting engaging visuals, we contribute to our clients’ success and help them leave a lasting impact. Throughout this journey, we reaffirmed the importance of the Bitcoin revolution, learning that one should always “Hodl” and continue investing in Bitcoin because it is undoubtedly here to stay.

In conclusion, the Bitcoin 2023 conference in Miami provided us with an extraordinary opportunity to collaborate with Charlene, a prominent figure in the Bitcoin community. Through our videography and photography skills, we captured the essence of the event, documenting engaging panel discussions, insightful interviews, and the excitement of the Bitcoin Market. Challenges such as audio management and adapting to different shooting environments tested our expertise and resourcefulness. However, we quickly found solutions and adapted to ensure the highest quality content. As videographers and photographers, we feel honored to have played a part in preserving the energy and significance of the Bitcoin 2023 conference, and we look forward to future opportunities to document the growth and impact of this groundbreaking industry.
